Michael Bastian showed off his 2012 fall collection for Gant at Exit Art, days after his namesake show. Stunning gals and guys posed in a winter wonderland wearing knit scarves in an array of festive colors and perfect sunglasses to match. Truly inspiring and a great presentation.

Now the young and no longer new designer, focuses on twisting and turning new materials into something anyone would want to wear. Last season she gave us an insane asylum. This season a sewer. Even though her set is often painstakingly derelict her clothes are never dingy.

The New York Times highlights Paris Show at New York Fashion Week
Trying to get used to the pace of blogging again, I haven’t been able to see as many shows as I want to. There hasn’t been a whole lot of rhyme or reason to who I’ve been popping in to see. With twitter, facebook and the web, I’m getting a great overview of everything that happens, in the warmth of my apartment.
Reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances has been a rejuvenating experience. Katya Leonovich is a Russian designer, she has the unique talent of creating clothing that transforms with photography, I’ve never seen this before. I pulled her for a shoot that didn’t quite happen and didn’t realize it was the same designer till I reviewed my recent photos. The students of Academy of Art University, continued to be on trend. This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone, when they get to obsess about fashion as much as I do, seeing the use of new fabrics and the exploration of patterns and baseball caps was true to form. Wandering out. I couldn’t help notice the New York Times now uses a Paris show to highlight their fashion app at Lincoln Center. I love McQueen. Adore him. Yet this is a telling detail.

Somewhere between being stuck in development and slogging through emails. I threw up my hands and went to the nearest open bar. Veda, Buckler and the Fashion 2.0: Social Media Awards made my night. I’m totally fascinated by people standing still and waiting, if only for a moment.
